20 Most Retweetable Words & Phrases on Twitter
I just purchased and have been reading The Science of Marketing: When to Tweet, What to Post, How to Blog, & Other Proven Strategies - very good book by the way – and I came across a section that listed the most retweeted keywords.
I’ve always been interested in the psychology behind words that work and words that don’t. A lot of the words below are Marketing Call-to-Action staples, like “Free” and “You”. People don’t care about you or your company - except in very rare cases - they care abou themselves and how you can solve a problem for them. Keep that in mind when writing any of your business copy, whether it be in a brochure or on Twitter.
Another note – tweets that had links in them had a higher click-through-rate and retweets than tweets that didn’t. Also keep in mind people don’t care what you had for lunch. Though sometimes that can be a decent way to engage instead of always posting links, but keep in mind ask a question, i.e. “I had green eggs and ham, what did you guys have?”.
Below are the words but I’d really recommend picking up the book, it’s got a lot of good stuff about the how’s and why’s of content marketing.
